Review: Gala of the Royal Horses a stunning celebrationSaturday, October 24, 2015
By the looks of their boots and behavior, it appeared that many in the audience for Thursday night's Gala of the Royal Horses at the PPL Center in Allentown were horse fans and lovers. But you did not have to be one to appreciate the beauty and elegance of the stallions who are celebrated in this touring show.
The animals are stunning, with their muscular bodies, shiny coats, beautiful manes and tails. And talented. The black and white horses pranced, danced, galloped and curtsied skillfully, responding dutifully to the commands of their riders and trainers.
The show featured a half dozen Lipizzaners, Arabians, Andalusians and Friesan horses, breeds that were raised for the royalty of Europe and to carry riders in battle. The production, touring the U.S. for the first time, was created by trainer/breeder/rider Rene Gasser, who demonstrated his craft during the two-hour show.
